In short

Jockey holds the working records of a construction business — estimates, jobs, customers, drawings, billing — on behalf of the company that entered them. Each company’s copy runs as its own application on its own disk, so no two customers share a database. We do not sell anything to anyone, we run no advertising, and there is no analytics or tracking code in the product. We look at a company’s records only when they ask us to help with something.

Who we are

Jockey Software LLC, a Nevada limited liability company. Jockey is sold to construction companies — mainly fire sprinkler contractors — who use it to run their own work.

Where your company is our customer, the records inside Jockey belong to them and we hold them on their behalf. If you work for one of our customers and want something about you changed or removed, your own office can do it directly, which is usually faster than asking us.

What we hold

The people at your company — name, work email, phone number, job title and role, and a signature image where somebody has uploaded one. Sign-in details, where the password itself is never stored: each one is put through scrypt with its own random salt, and only that result is kept.

The work itself — estimates, projects, schedules, billing, change orders, purchase orders, inspections, daily reports and time records. Your company’s own customers and contacts, which your company entered and we did not gather. And the files uploaded to a job: drawings, PDFs and site photographs.

How your company’s copy is kept apart

Jockey is not one large system with every customer inside it. Each company gets its own application, its own database file and its own disk. There is no shared table, no customer column, and no query in the product that could return one company’s records to another, because the other company’s records are not on the machine.

One consequence is worth stating plainly: we cannot combine what our customers do into an industry benchmark, a trend report or a training set, and we do not.

How we use it

To run Jockey for you, and for nothing else: storing what you enter, producing the documents you ask for, sending the email you send through it, and keeping the service working. Where you connect Jockey to another service you already use, we use it for what that connection is for and no more.

How we share it

We do not sell or rent anyone’s information, and we share nothing with advertisers. The only outside parties who handle it at all are the services that run Jockey — hosting, file storage, email delivery, payment processing and any service you have chosen to connect — each acting on our instructions or yours, for that purpose alone.

We will also hand over information if the law requires it, and we will tell the customer concerned unless we are forbidden to.

What we do not do

There is no analytics package, no tracking pixel and no session recorder anywhere in the product. The interface font is carried by the software rather than fetched from Google, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you did — and the same is true of this website, which loads nothing from anywhere but itself. We do not build profiles of the people who use Jockey.

How it is kept safe

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed with scrypt and a per-person salt. Keys for any connected service are held on the server and never sent to a browser. Within a company, what somebody can see and change is set by their role, and the server enforces it rather than relying on the screen to hide things.

No system is perfect. If something happens that affects your data, we will tell you what happened and what we know, rather than waiting until we know everything.

How long it is kept

For as long as your company is a customer. Jockey keeps its own nightly copy of the database and the last thirty are retained, so a deletion made by mistake on a Tuesday can be undone on the Friday.

When a company stops using Jockey we will, on request, provide a full export and then delete their copy and its backups. If they do not ask, we keep the copy for a period so that coming back does not mean starting again.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for a copy, or ask for it to be deleted. Nevada, California and several other states give residents specific rights along these lines, and we apply them to everyone rather than checking where you live first. We will not treat you differently for asking.

The quickest route is usually your own office — Manage Account can correct a person’s details and download a complete export without involving us. Otherwise write to the address below and we will respond within thirty days. We do not sell personal information and never have, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Children

Jockey is a tool for businesses and is not offered to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly hold information about children. If you believe we have, write to us and we will remove it.

Changes

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Where a change materially affects what we do with your information, we will tell our customers directly rather than relying on them to notice.
